How Logging Your Food Benefit Your Health Journey

Logging your food in an app like MyFitnessPal is something that can be extremely beneficial during any part of your health journey. As a Nutrition Coach, I’ve seen the benefits of logging in both myself and my clients. Logging your food isn’t meant to be a permanent thing and isn’t meant for everyone, but I want to show you the benefits and downsides to logging so you can make a decision that is best for you!

Pros of logging your food:

  1. It ensures that you are eating enough
  2. It ensures that you are not eating too much
  3. Helps you hit your protein goal
  4. Provides flexibility to meet your goals (protein, carbs & fats)
  5. It is and extremely beneficial educational experience
  6. It is a great tool to use to go after a goal with precision

Cons of logging your food:

  1. It is too time consuming and requires planning ahead
  2. It can be triggering for someone who has dealt with disordered eating
  3. Daily habit of logging is not sustainable long term
